Rites Today for F. Shoger
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock for a retired Osage farmer, Fred Shoger, 72, who died early Tuesday at Mitchell County Memorial hospital, where he had undergone surgery three weeks ago.
The Rev. Paul Metzger, pastor, will be in charge of the rites at Rock Creek Lutheran church and burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by C.R. Champion and Sons.
Fred Irving Shoger was born December 1, 1903, in Cedar township, Mitchell county, the son of C.E. and Nettie Johanson Shoger. He was baptized and confirmed at Rock Creek church and attended rural schools in the area. As a young man he began his career as a farmer.
Gladys Olson and Mr. Shoger were united in marriage in Osage, January 19, 1929. They established their home in Rock township, retiring to their present home in Osage in 1970.
His wife, Gladys survives as do one son, Dale of Rudd; one daughter, Mrs. Arthur Anderson (Darlene) of Monticello, Minn.; five grandchildren; one brother, James of Nora Springs; nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts.
Preceding him in death were one son, Duane, who died in 1964; his parents; one brother, Clifford; and one sister, Mrs. Alvin McKee (Effie).
