Clifford Shoger, 52,
Stricken While Driving
Car, Dies

Funeral services for Clifford N. Shoger, 52, who died of a heart attack Friday forenoon, were held here Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Shoger and their grandson, Steven Shoger, 3, were enroute from their farm home near Bailey to Little Cedar when he was stricken. The car went into a snowbank, and Mrs. Shoger went for help. Her husband died while she was gone.

The Rev. Paul Hanson, pastor of the LeRoy Lutheran Church, was in charge of the services at the Champion Funeral Home. Burial was in the Osage cemetery.

Clifford Nathan Shoger was born in Cedar township, Mitchell county, June 28, 1908, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Shoger. He spent his youth in that area, and was baptized and confirmed at Rock Creek Lutheran Church.

He began farming with his father in 1932 in the Meroa vicinity. Following his marriage to Lulu Carter at the Rock Creek parsonage, he began farming for himself, remaining in his home territory until moving to a farm near LeRoy in 1940.

He served on the cemetery board of the LeRoy church, was an active member of the Lutheran church there, and as a member of the Rock Creek congregation.

Survivors include his wife, Lulu, his mother, Mrs. Nettie Shoger of Osage, three children, Marvin at home, Mrs. Merle Orthel of St. Paul, and Stanley of near Little Cedar, five grandchildren, two brothers, James of Nora Springs and Fred of Osage, and one sister, Mrs. Alvin McKee of Orchard.

He was preceded in death by his father.
