#2:

Julian Schoger died at his home near Osage Friday, April 29, at the age of 84 years. He had been in failing health due to his great age, for a long time. Mr. Schoger was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Schoger, and was born Dec. 21, 1858.

When a child of six, he travelled with his parents by covered wagon from Wisconsin to South Dakota, where the family located near Yankton. After a year, the family came back east as far as Mitchell county. Mr. Schoger is known to have made at least two subsequent trips by covered wagon to the Dakotas and back.

However he continued to reside in and near Osage for the remainder of his life, with the exception of nine years spent in Grand Forks county, N.D., where he engaged in business and farming.

In Mitchell county he was chiefly engaged in farming, although for a time he had an interest in the Meroa store. In 1880 he was united in marriage with Guri Docken. His wife passed away March 9, 1921. On June 6, 1923, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Carrie Brenden-Olsen.

In 1912, Mr. and Mrs. Schoger moved to Osage, where he continued to reside until his death.

Mr. Schoger was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and was a charter member of the Osage Lutheran church. He was in a true and good sense a self-made man.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, three brothers, and a sister. Surviving is his wife, and four step-children. The latter are: Lawrence Olsen of Waterloo; Irvin Olsen and Mrs. Myron Maakestad, of Osage; and Mrs. Ed Frederickson of Bancroft; also ten step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Champion funeral home and the Osage Lutheran church on May 2, at 3:00 p.m. and were conducted by the Rev. T.P. Solem, pastor of the Osage Lutheran church. Internment was in Osage cemetery.
