Funeral services for Anna Marie (Pals) VanderMyde, 88 who died July 23, 1994, were held July 25 at the United Methodist Church, St. Ansgar, with Rev. Robert Lemmermann officiating.
Anna Marie Pals was born on December 8, 1905 in Belmond, one of six children bron to Herman and Minnie Pals.
Ann spent her early years in Meservey. A graduate of Meservey High School in 1923, she later went on to attend Central College in Pella where she earned a two year normal teaching certificate in 1926. She served as a teacher for three years at Washington, Iowa and in the Meservey High School.
August 28, 1928 she married Louis J. VanderMyde in Sheldon. Lous was an electrical engineer, who later served as manager of Cedar Valley Electric Cooperative in St. Ansgar from 1939 to 1969. Louis VanderMyde died Christmas Day 1988. Ann continued to live in their home in St. Ansgar until the summer of 1992. She moved to Worth Living Centers and a short time later to the Good Samaritan Center.
Since 1939 Ann was a member of the United Methodist Church where she was very active. She sang in choir, taught Sunday School, played the church organ and served in various offices. Along with Lou she helped to establish the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Lou, a sister, Mrs. Fred (Grace) Lautenbach; two brothers, Harold W. and Myron L. Pals.
Mrs. VanderMyde is survived by two sons, Philip and Paul of Alexandria, Virginia; a brother, Dr. Clarence H. Pals of Arlington, Virginia; a sister, Mrs. William (Wilma) J. Probert of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, John VanderMyde of Arlington, Virginia, and Missy VanderMyde of Charlottesville, Virginia.
Burial was in St. Ansgar Cemetery.
