Dr. W. Penney dies in Tacoma
OSAGE, IOWA — Former Mitchell County resident, Dr. Warren Penney, 82, died Tuesday at Tacoma, Wash. Born in Stacyville, he attended Iowa State University, Ames, and was graduated from Northwestern University Medical School in 1906, later attending New York Postgraduate School of Medicine. He was a captain in the Army Medical Corps in World War I.
Past president of the Washington State Medical Association and of Washington State Tuberculosis Association, he was secretary-treasurer of the Pierce County Medical Society for many years, charter member of Northwest Internists Society member of the AMA's house of delegates, life member of Tacoma General Hospital Staff, and was at one time medical consultant to the Northern Pacific and Milwaukee Railroads. He retired in 1945.
Survivors include his wife Laura; two daughters, Mrs. John Warden, Bellevue, Wash.; Mrs. Robert Carlisle, Bay Side, N.Y.; a brother, Walter, Grants Pass, Ore.; a sister, Miss Bertha Penney, Tacoma, Wash. two half-brothers, Lynn, Osage; John, Mason City; and half sisters, Mary Penney, Bess Penney, Mrs. Harriet Wright, all of Osage; and Mrs. Edna Wright, Cleveland, Ohio. There are two grandchildren.
