OSAGE, IOWA - Lawrence R. Bird, 85, of rural Osage, died on Sunday, March 31, 1996, at the Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Free Methodist Church, Riceville, with the Rev. Bill Wieland and the Rev. Frank Ross officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Riceville, Iowa.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Lawrence R. Bird was born December 27, 1910, on a farm northwest of Osage in Mitchell County.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bird of rural Osage; two daughters, Lucille Wieland of Greencastle, Indiana, and Lois Rider of Waterloo; two sons, Larry Bird of Osage, and Doug Bird of Waverly; two sisters, Irene Brown and Ilene Martin, both of Riceville; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
