OSAGE, IOWA — Services for Mrs. Garnet Koch, 75, who died Tuesday night at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar, are pending at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage.

Survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robert Peterson of Des Moines; a son, James Peterson of Vinton; six grandchildren; until eight years ago, she was owner of the Dale Peterson, Inc., a drapery and floor covering firm in Osage.

Garnet Marie Welch Koch [1903-1979]

Funeral services for Mrs. Garnet Koch, 76, who died at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center September 4, were held September 7 at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage with the Rev. Bruce Wittern, pastor of the St. Ansgar United Methodist Church officiating.

Garnet Marie Welch was born in Plymouth April 28, 1903, the daughter of Charles and Lillian (Grovier) Welch. She grew to womanhood in Osage and attended the schools there. She was graduated from Rockford College, Rockford, Illinois.

She married Dale Peterson, October 20, 1926 and two children were born to them. Mr. Peterson died May 31, 1950.

Her marriage to Lloyd Koch of St. Ansgar took place in 1957, and he died the following year.

During her years as a businesswoman, she was employed by her father-in-law at the Daylight Store in Osage for a number of years. In 1950 she became owner-manager of Dale Peterson, Inc., a drapery specialty shop in Osage, and continued in this line of work until 1976. She was a member of the United Methodist church and Bethany Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Osage, and the Wa-Tan-Ye club in St. Ansgar.

Mrs. Koch is survived by a son, James Peterson of Vinton; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Janet) Peterson of Des Moines and six grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husbands and parents.

Burial was in the Osage cemetery with Rev. Wittern in charge of committal services.
