Osage Youth Killed in Car, Train Crash

OSAGE, Iowa — Gary Tibbets**, 18, Osage, was killed in a car-train accident Friday at Forest City, while a passenger in a car driven by Harley Shaw of Orchard.

Others in the car were Howard Ammons. Ronald Kindschuh and Roger Loden, all of Osage. Kindschuh is hospitalized at Memorial Hospital. Osage, and the others were treated for minor injuries.

Tibbets is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emery Tibbets.

Surviving are his parents; three brothers, Dale of Dennison, Iowa; and Neil and Keith, at home; two sisters, Leah and Lael at borne; and grandmothers Mrs. Laura Hansohn, Leboyt, Iowa, and Mrs. C. Tibbets, Dennison.

The car, struck the engine of a North Western Freight. The engineer, Robert Seagr of Fort Dodge said the train was going slowly.

Dr. C. H. Potter, county medical examiner said Tibbets apparently struck the car windshield with his head, causing a broken neck.

The Champion Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
