Osage Mother Succumbs to Heart Disease;
Buried at Osage Cemetery.

OSAGE—Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Congregational church for Mrs. Herman Sonberg, 61, who died Friday morning of heart trouble. The Rev. Stiles Lessly was in charge.

Alice Louisa Rowland, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Rowland, was born January 12, 1875 at Northwood, the youngest of eight children. When an infant she moved to Lake Mills with her parents and then later to a farm near St. Ansgar.

She attended the Spring Valley school and was graduated from the St. Ansgar high school. On October 30, 1894 she was married to Herman Sonberg and six children were born. For seven years they lived on a farm near Osage and then for 27 years they lived on a farm near St. Ansgar. Nine years ago they moved to Osage where they have made their home since. She was a member of the local Congregational church.

She is survived by her husband, one brother. Herbert Rowland of Otranto; a sister Mrs. Frank Burroughs of St. Ansgar and six children; Mrs. Alver T. Dahlen of Osage; Mrs. Eugene Adams of Atwater, Minn.; Henry Sonberg of Osage; Mrs. Floyd Coonradt of LeRoy, Minn.: Ralph Sonberg of St. Ansgar; Mrs. Cecil Adams of Webster City and 14 grandchildren.

Burial was in the local cemetery.

Died Friday of Heart Trouble

Mrs. Herman Sonberg died of a heart attack early Friday morning at her home on Maple Street. Though frail, she had been in her usual health up until about an hour before death occurred.

She had spent the evening before at the home of Mrs. Eline Halvorson, across the street, and had gone home and to bed about 10 o'clock, without complaining of feeling ill. Around midnight she awakened with what seemed to be stomach distress, asked her husband to get some hot water for her, but on his return from the kitchen he found her dead.

Obituary

Alice Louisa Rowland, daughter of Henry and Jennie Burroughs Rowland, was born January 12, 1875, at Northwood, Iowa, the youngest of a family of eight children.

While still in infancy she moved with her parents to Lake Mills, Iowa, where a few years later her mother died. Then when about six years of age she moved with her family to a farm near St. Ansgar. She attended the Spring Valley School, and then completed the course of study in the St. Ansgar High School. On October 30, 1894, she was married to Herman Sonberg and to this union six children were born.

They lived on farms near Osage for seven years and then moved to a farm near St. Ansgar where they lived for twenty-seven years. Nine years ago they moved to Osage, where they have since resided. She was a member of the Osage Congregational Church, having joined with it April 14, 1929.

She is survived by her husband, one brother, Herbert Rowland, of Otranto; one sister, Mrs. Frank Burroughts, of near St. Ansgar; and her six children: Mrs. Alver T. Dahlin, Osage; Mrs. Eugene Adams, Atwater, Minnesota; Henry Sonberg, Osage; Mrs. Floyd Coonradt, LeRoy; Ralph Sonberg, St. Ansgar; Mrs. Cecil Adams, Webster City; besides fourteen grandchildren.

She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and a kind friend.

Funeral services were conducted at the First Congregational Church, Osage, on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by her pastor, Reverend Stiles Lessly, with burial in the Osage Cemetery.
