Dies at Orchard;
Ill Several Years

Funeral service was held Monday afternoon at the Champion Funeral Home for Charles A. Fink, 70, well-known Orchard resident, who died Friday after an illness of about three years. Burial was in the Orchard Cemetery. The Rev. Stiles Lessly was in charge of the last rites.

Charles Abram Fink, the son of Andrew W. and Henrietta Beadle Fink, was born July 6, 1874, at Oneida, Illinois. He died January 12, 1945.

He came as a boy with his parents to Grundy County, Iowa, and settled on a farm near that place. He grew up in that community; attended rural schools, and as a young man engaged in farming.

His marriage to Frances Ann Lhamon, who lived in the same community, took place October 8, 1897. They established their home on a farm nearby, where they lived until 1812 when they came to Mitchell County. They lived for a time on Mr. Fink's father's farm east of Osage. They bought a farm in Burr Oak where they lived two years. They then purchased the farm three-quarters of a mile north of orchard on which they resided for 15 years. Then they moved to a farm west of Orchard where they lived until three years ago, when they moved into Orchard. Then he gave up farming because of failing health. He had had a stroke of paralysis and several others came in the course of time.

Mr. Fink was well known in the community and highly respected by those who knew him or had dealings with him. For many years he served as a member of the Orchard school board and during much of that time was president of the board.

He is survived by his wife; four sons: Milo M. Elwyn E., Dale C., Charles E., all of whom live in the Orchard community; a daughter, Mrs. M. C. Lockwood, of Mason City; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Besides he has two sisters and five brothers living. They are: Mrs. A. J. Kline of Conrad; Mrs. Frank Hall of Hastings, Nebraska; Harry, Clyde and Ralph, all of Conrad, George of Chicago, Illinois, and Guy of St. Louis.

Charles A. Fink was born on July 6, 1874, at Oneida, Illinois, the son of Andrew E. and Henrietta Beadle Fink. He moved with his parents to Grundy county as a young boy, attended school there, grew to manhood and began farming. He was married on October 8, 1897, and lived on a farm, coming to Mitchell County in 1912. They settled on a farm east of Osage, then moved to the Orchard community, and retired to Orchard three years ago. He served as president of the Orchard school board for many years. A stroke was the cause of death.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. M. C. Lockwood, Mason City; four sons: Milo, Edwin, Dale, and Charles Edward, near Orchard; two sisters, Mrs. A. J. Kline, Conrad, and Mrs. Frank Hall, Hastings, Nebraska; and five brothers: Harry, Clyde, and Ralph of the Conrad community, George, Chicago, and Gus, whereabouts unknown.
