OBITUARY:

Hanna F. H. (Treichel) Groth, Mitchell County, Iowa

Hanna Frederike Henriette Groth (nee Treichel) [1865-1947]

Funeral services for Mrs. Hanna Groth were held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar Tuesday, September 2, with the Rev. T. J. Eickelberg in charge. Burial was in Immanuel Lutheran cemetery south of St. Ansgar.

Hanna Frederike Henriette Groth (nee Treichel) was born on December 8, 1865, at Granville, Wisconsin, to Herman and Henriette Treichel. She was the sixth child in a family of 11. She was baptized in the Lutheran church at Granville, on December 24, 1865.

In May, 1876, she moved with her parents to Iowa and settled on a farm at the southwest edge of St. Ansgar.

On April 14, 1878, she was confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran church by the Rev. E. Wiegner.

She was married to John Groth on December 28, 1883. They first made their home on a farm near Mitchell, then east of St. Ansgar, later moving to a farm in Otranto township, where she lived until last February, when she came to St. Ansgar to make her home with her daughter, Mrs Henry Pagel.

Mrs Groth died Friday afternoon, August 29, at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 21 days.

She is survived by eight children; Mrs. Ida Pagel, St. Ansgar; Mrs. Minnie Frese, Osage; Mrs. Augusta Baldner, St. Ansgar; Henry Groth, August Groth, Robert Groth, Ervin Groth, all of St. Ansgar, and Mrs. Rosaline Behl, Osage; one sister, Mrs Louise Ahlf, St. Ansgar; 28 grandchildren.
