MCINTIRE, IOWA - Funeral services for Josephine Stuckey will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009, at the Wayne Baptist Church in McIntire, Iowa, with the Rev. Gary Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in the Wayne Cemetery near McIntire.

Josephine Stuckey, 93, formerly of McIntire, went to be with the Lord on June 3, 2009. She had been living at Maple Manor Village in Aplington, Iowa, for the past year.

Josephine M. Stuckey was born April 13, 1916, in McIntire, Iowa, to Bertiss Johnson and Mary (Fortney) Johnson. After her mother's death, when she was 13 months old, she was raised by her paternal grandmother whom she referred to as "Grammy." She received her education in the McIntire Public School and graduated valedictorian of the Class of 1934.

On January 30, 1938 she was united in marriage to Avery Stuckey in Riceville. And together they raised eight children.

She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed playing piano, which she did at the Wayne Baptist Church in McIntire until she was 87 years old.

She is survived by seven children, Robert (Sharon) Stuckey, of Lanesboro, Minn., Roberta (William) Dunn of Waterloo, Irvin (Linda) Stuckey, of Loves Park, Ill., Gaylord (Naomi) Stuckey, of Grand Meadow, Minn., Gladys Erickson of Wykoff, Minn., Ardys (David) Duryee, of Ackley, and Grace (Steven) Farmer, of Charles City; 21 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Rose Peterson, of Commerce City, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Avery, on April 15, 1982; a daughter, Martha Berentsen; a son, Terry, in infancy; an infant granddaughter, Stephanie; a son-in-law, Russel Ericksen; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Stuckey; three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Hindt Funeral Home, 615 N. Broadway in LeRoy, Minn. Visitation will continue at 9:30 a.m. Monday the Church in McIntire, Iowa.
