Mrs. Joren Brenden is the former Joren, or Jorand, Haugen. She married Halvor Brenden. They had four children: Carrie (Mrs. Schoger), Christopher, Olga, and Sophia.

Mrs. Joren Brenden, aged 81, died Sunday night at the home of her daughter.

Another daughter, Mrs. Julian Shoger survives her.

The funeral service will be held at the Osage Lutheran Church Thursday at one o'clock.

Mrs. Joran Brenden, nee Haugen, was born in Aardalen, Valdres, Norway, June 8, 1849

The Haugen family emigrated to America in 1852, and came to Albany, Wisconsin. Shortly after this the family settled near Blanchard - deceased grew to womanhood, and ville in the same state. Here on October 13, 1866 was married to Halvor Brenden.

The Brendens came to Mitchell County in April 1890. They lived on a farm in Rock Township until shortly before the death of Mr. Brenden in 1912. Since that time Mrs. Brenden has lived with her children in their respective homes.

Last spring Mrs. Brenden suffered a slight stroke from which she rallied despite her advanced age. She was up and about until last Friday, February 27th, when she was stricken again. She remained in an unconscious state until Sunday afternoon, March 1, when death came. She would have celebrated her 82nd birthday in June. At the time of her death she was living with her daughter, Mrs. Nettie Anderson, in whose care she has been the past few years.

The departed is survived by nine of ten children: Ole Brenden, of Fertile, Iowa; Mrs. Julian Schoger, Mrs. J. B. Johnson, Mrs. Nettie Anderson, Christ, Brenden, all of Osage; Henry Brenden, Fargo, N.D.; Mrs. Knut Rothe, Madison, Wisconsin; Mrs. M. J. Maudal, White Rock, S.D.; Mrs. Ed Christianson, Osage, Iowa. The tenth of her children, Randolph (Rady) died in 1929.

She is also survived by twenty grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services at the Osage Lutheran Church, Thursday at 1 p.m. Interment beside her husband and son in the Rock Creek Cemetery.
