Judge Bernard C. Sullivan
Funeral services for Judge Bernard. C. Sullivan, 76, of Rockford, were held at 10 A.M. Tuesday at Hold Name Catholic Church, Rockford with the Reverend Joseph Sullivan officiating. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Osage.
Judge Sullivan died Saturday, August 20, 1988 at his home of natural causes.
He was born on October 5, 1911, at Osage, a son of Daniel M. and Kate (Donovan) Sullivan. He married Ruby C. Canoe on September 30, 1943, in California.
He served as mayor of Rockford and on the board of directors of the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock School and was a four-year veteran of World War II.
Governor Harold Hughes appointed Sullivan, a Democrat, to the district court bench in 1965. He served in that capacity until October, 1986; and continued to work as a senior judge, filling in for other judges when needed, until a few weeks before his death.
He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Rockford, the Elks, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby, Rockford; one daughter, Ann J. Sullivan, Manchester; and one brother, Harold Sullivan, Osage.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Donald.
