Mrs. Virgil Winter (Sandra Wells Winter)

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA — Funeral services for Sandra (Mrs. Virgil) Winter, 21, and her infant daughter, of Lake Mills, Iowa, will be held at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills on Monday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with Anderson-Mittelstadt Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

She died Friday morning at a Buffalo Center hospital after giving birth to a daughter who did not survive.

She is the former Sandra Wells, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Creston Wells of St. Ansgar. She was born May 24, 1943, at Ricevlle. She was a 1961 graduate of St. Anagar High School, and attended Hamilton College in Mason City.

She was married to Virgil Winter March 28, 1964. Surviving are her husband, parents and a brother, Philip, at home.

NOTES:

Sandra Kay Wells Winter was born at Riceville,
Mitchell County, Iowa. She died on Dec. 25, 1964, at Buffalo Center, Winnebago County, Iowa.

Her father was Creston "Chris" Archibald Wells (1915-1989), and her mother was Doris {Harding} Wells. Her brother was Philip Wells.

She was married to Virgil I. Winter (1942-1989) on March 24, 1964. Virgil & Sandra had one daughter -- Jodi Kay Winter, who died at birth. Following Sandra's death, Virgil re-married, and had children with his second wife.

Burial: Salem Memorial Cemetery, Lake Mills, Winnebago County, Iowa. See Findagrave Memorial# 756821 for photo of her tombstone, and that of her daughter Jodi.

Sandra Winter had been involved in a car accident in the days just preceding her death, and that of her baby. Apparently there were internal injuries including some internal bleeding, which were not discovered, which caused complications during the delivery and Sandra bled to death.
