LARSON, Neul Ervin "Lucky" 1908-1999

Neul Ervin (Lucky) Larson was born November 29, 1908 in Mason City, Iowa, to Johnnie and Ida M. (Kvale) Larson. On May 8, 1910 he was baptized into Christian faith in Mason City. On February 9, 1968, he confirmed his baptismal faith at First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, Iowa. At this time he became a member of First Lutheran Church.

During World War II, Lucky served his country and was a member of the Walter T. Enneberg Post No. 358 of the American Legion, Saint. Ansgar, Iowa.

In September, 1951 Lucky married Lucy Golden Nagle at Osage, Iowa. God blessed their marriage with three children, Bonita, Gloria and Dudley**.

At the time of his retirement Lucky was manager of the Carpenter Elevator. Following retirement he worked part time for Mayer Feed in St. Ansgar. Lucky enjoyed gardening and he loved to travel. His biggest joy was his grandchildren, family and friends.

For several years Lucky had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar. On Wednesday, November 24, he died at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lucy, three brothers, two sisters and one grandson.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonita Mayer and her husband Wayne of St. Ansgar, Iowa, Gloria Stewart and her husband Bob of Faribault, Minnesota; one son, Dudley Thompson and his wife Linda of South Bend, Indiana; one brother, Virgil larson of Des Moines, Iowa; to sisters, Millie Koschmeder of Riceville, Iowa and Betty Grimm and her husband Jake of Council Bluffs, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Jerry, Thomas an David Vroman, Donald Gates, Heather Thompson, John Thompson, Adam Thompson, Robyn and Gabriel Mayer, Daniel Stewart, and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Lucky Larson were held at First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar, Iowa, on November 29, 1999 at 2:00 p.m.; and Rev. Robert Porisch officiated. Organist was Mrs. Anne Hendrickson, and soloist was Carol Deeds. Interment was in the St. Ansgar (City) Cemetery.

**NOTE: Gloria and Dudley were actually children by a previous marriage of his wife Lucy (nee Nagle) Thompson.
