Mildred Petersen, 91, Austin, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at the Austin Medical Center.

Mildred was born Sept. 23, 1909, in Mitchell County, Iowa to Ole and Nellie (Smith) Johnson. On June 26, 1938, she married Ervin Petersen in Windom. She was a dedicated teacher for 42 years and loved children.

She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Olaf and Monica Johnson, Rose Creek; sister, Marjorie Bugge, Austin; sister-in-law, Viola (Albert) Hughson, Austin; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ervin on Dec. 7, 1993, and a sister.

Service: 11 a.m. on Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Glenn Monson officiating.

Interment: Oakwood Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Tom Fielding, Jerry Bugge, Jon Lenoch, Jim Schubert, Jim Wolfe and Alan Hughson.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mayer Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
