LYDIA CATHERINE LARSEN HALVORSON

ST. ANSGAR - Lydia Catherine Larsen, Halvorson, 107, of St. Ansgar, died Thursday (Oct. 12, 2000) at the Burr Oak Nursing Home in Austin, Minn.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Robert Porisch officiating. Burial will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar, (641) 736-4920.

HALVORSON, Lydia C. 1893-2000

Funeral services for Lydia Catherine Larsen Halvorson, 107, who died Thursday, October 12, 2000, at the Burr Oak Nursing Home, Austin, Minnesota, were held Monday, October 16 at the First Lutheran Church here with the Rev. Robert Porisch officiating.

Lydia Catherine Larsen Halvorson was born July 10, 1893 on a farm near Bolan, Iowa. She was the daughter of Jens and Kirsten Larsen and one of 11 children. She attended the rural school near Bolan. In 1912 she graduated from St. Ansgar Seminary and taught school for four years.

September 28, 1916, she was united in marriage to Clarence Halvorson. They farmed on a farm near Park Rapids, Minnesota for a few years, returning to the St. Ansgar area. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid and Martha Circle, and to a birthday club of several friends. She was honored on her 107th birthday in July. She moved from the farm near St. Ansgar in 1968 to a house in Austin, Minnesota and entered Burr Oak Manor in November 1989 where she resided until her death.

Lydia is survived by sons, Alton and Allene of St. Ansgar, and Gerald and Betty of Casa Grande, Arizona; a daughter, Esther Quam of Minnetonka, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, one grandson, a son-in-law, her parents, five brothers and five sisters.

Burial was in the First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar.
