Katherine (Brennecke) Schroeder - 1920-2000

Katherine G. "Kate" Schroeder, 79, Austin, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at the Austin Medical Center.

Kate was born on November 10, 1920, in Stacyville, Mitchell county, Iowa, to George and Martha (Miller) Brennecke. She lived in Watertown, Wisconsin until 1938 when she moved to Austin.

On Jan. 20, 1940, she married Frederick "Fritz" Schroeder in Northfield. Fritz was employed as a mechanic for Hormel Foods and Kate worked at Knauer's Market. In 1972 they moved to Adams-Friendship, Wisconsin. Kate returned to Austin on Oct. 23, 1999.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Jim Rasmussen, Austin; four grandchildren; two step great grandsons; sisters and brothers-in-law, Millie and Curt Erdman. Friendship, Wis., Evie and Werner Kaczor, Watertown, Wis.; sister-in-law, Sukie and Eddied Brennecke, Friendship, Wis.; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fritz March 5, 1974, an infant son and an infant daughter, two brothers, Eugene and Eddie, a sister-in-law, Betty Brennecke.

Service: A funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday At St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Paul Nelson officiating.

Visitation: A 6:30 p.m. rosary on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. and also from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery - Austin, Minn.
