Funeral services for Ena Mae Bell, 77, who died August 9, 1995 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, were held August 14, at the United Methodist Church, St. Ansgar, with Rev. Gary Gonnerman officiating.
Ena Mae Bell was born March 21, 1918 to Henry and Alma Nagle of Carpenter, Iowa. Ena grew up in the Carpenter, Grafton, and Rose Creek area.
She was united in marriage to John Carter Bell of Lyle, Minnesota July 28, 1936 at the First Baptist Church, Osage. They made their home on a farm north of Lyle, Minnesota. Harlan was born there. They lived in Austin, Minnesota, and then moved to Clarksville, Iowa, where James and Russell were born.
They then moved to a farm northeast of St. Ansgar where they farmed until 1955 when they moved to a farm southeast of St. Ansgar. In 1964 they moved west of St. Ansgar where they farmed until 1973. They moved to a house in St. Ansgar for retirement.
During the years 1958 to 1986 Ena was employed by Cedar Valley Electric. She did custodial work, printing, and cooked many a meal there and for other special events in the community. Ena enjoyed cooking and entertaining. Her life was invested in her family and friends.
Ena is survived by three sons: Harlan of Waterloo, James and wife Nancy of St. Ansgar, Russell and wife, Sandra of Hudson; six grandchildren: Gail Smith and husband Stephen, Dean Bell and wife Rebecca, Dawn Standing and husband Christopher, Renae Wason and husband Tim, Susan Pearl and husband Dave, and Karen Bell; five great-grandchildren: one sister, Evelyn Goedken of Waterloo.
Preceding her in death were her husband John; her parents; two sisters, Lucy Larson and E. Lee Tribbensee; and two brothers, Howard and Roger Nagle.
Burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.
