Franklin Keith Harman

MASON CITY, IOWA - F. Keith Harman, 69, of 715 16th St. N.E., died Thursday (Feb. 6, 1997) at the IOOF Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 214 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. John Gannett of Trinity Lutheran Church, and the Rev. Robert Towner of St. John's Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Full military rites will be performed at the graveside by the Mason City Memorial Association.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Major-Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. The family suggests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or the IOOF Home.

F. Keith Harman was born on August 21, 1927, the son of Walter and Vera (Hodson) Harman in Osage. Keith graduated from Plymouth High School in 1945. Keith was raised on a farm in Mitchell County and continued to farm after graduation. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1956, during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Elaine R. Ahrens on Sept. 10, 1955, at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church in Meroa. Keith operated Keith's Standard Service on 12th Street Northeast and North Carolina Avenue in Mason City from 1960 to 1980.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the V.F.W.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine R. Harman, of Mason City; two daughters, Janice Flegle and her husband, Don, of Omaha, Neb., and Gail Kern of Omaha, Neb.; one son, Dennis Harman and his wife, Sue, of Spencer; seven grandchildren, Travis, Tyler and Taylor Harman of Spencer, Lauren and Douglas Flegle of Omaha, Neb., and Patrick and Kathryn Kern of Omaha, Neb.; two brothers, Eldred Harman and his wife, Donna, of Waterloo, and Donald Harman and his wife, Nadine, of Marshalltown; one sister-in-law, Cory Harman of LeMars; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Raymond.
