OSAGE, IOWA - Floyd F. Whalen, 73, of Osage, died Tuesday (Dec. 10, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, with military rites by the Osage VFW Post #7920 and Osage American Legion Post #278. Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 9 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home, with a 3 p.m. rosary, a 7:30 p.m. parish Scripture service and an 8:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary.

Floyd F. Whalen was born April 14, 1923, in Cresco, Howard county, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Eileen, of Osage; five daughters, Lois Freiermuth, Elmwood, Wisconsin; Kathleen Wencl of Austin, Minnesota; Darlene Strouf, Lyle, Minnesota; Arlene Gibson of Gilman, Wisconsin, and Lori Wilde, Osage; three sons, Dennis Whalen of Lyle, Minnesota; and James Whalen of Winona, Minnesota; three sisters, Gladys Bednar of Austin, Minnesota, Ruth Carolan of Austin, Minnesota, and Cecelia Martin of Lyle, Minnesota; three brothers, Alois Whalen of Rockford, Illinois; Oliver Whalen of Rose Creek, Minnesota, and Patrick Whalen of Cresco; 24 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, one sister and two brothers.
