ST. ANSGAR, IOWA — Carol Ann (White) Arickx, 63, of St. Ansgar died Monday (Aug. 22, 2005) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, concluding a courageous seven-year battle with cancer.

Carol was born May 6, 1942, the daughter of Everett and Ferne (Bowen) White. She grew up in Rock Falls, Iowa, with the family moving in 1954 to Mitchell, Iowa. She attended school in Mitchell, and graduated from Osage High School in 1960.

Carol married Raymond Arickx Jr., on April 20, 1963. Together, the couple raised three children from their home in Mitchell. Carol excelled in teaching her children the value of family while maintaining a sense of individuality and privacy. Carol enjoyed making crafts for her loved ones, and these gifts have become treasured heirlooms to their recipients. She took great pleasure in watching her grandchildren grow. Her love for her family is only surpassed by their love for her. She will be sorely missed.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with the Rev. Paul Birkedal officiating. Inurnment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Mitchell.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, and one hour before services on Friday at the funeral home.

According to the family’s wishes, memorials may be directed to the Mercy Cancer Center Foundation, 1000 Fourth St. S.W., Mason City, IA 50401, or to Hospice of North Iowa, 232 Second St. S.W., Mason City, IA 50401.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister at birth, a niece, her father-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.

Carol is survived by her husband, Ray Arickx of St. Ansgar; a daughter, Angela Arickx of St. Ansgar; two sons, Paul Arickx, his wife, Kelly, their children, Emma, Samuel, Sadie, and Margaret of Nora Springs, and Dan Arickx, his wife, Dawn, their children, Sydney, Madison, and Makenna of Rock Falls, Ill.; siblings, Lucy (Dale) Jackson, Margaret (Mike) Byington, Don (Novella) White, Janice (Don) Abrahamson, Jim (Sharon) White; mother-in-law, Juanita Arickx; and a multitude of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
