Elmer William Rosenberg

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA — Elmer William Rosenberg, 94, of St. Ansgar died Thursday (July 7, 2005) at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton with the Rev. Wayne Ellingson officiating. Burial will be in the Grafton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, Iowa.

Elmer William Rosenberg was born on Nov. 14, 1910, at home in Newburg Township, the son of Robert and Lena (Dieterich) Rosenberg. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Creek. He received his education at Newburg No. 5 Country School.

After his schooling, he farmed with his father. On May 29, 1939, he married Pearl Kuntz. They farmed on four different farms in Worth County until buying their present farm in 1960. He lived there until December 2004, when he moved to the Lutheran Retirement Home where his wife was already a resident.

Elmer loved the farm. His life was filled with his faith, family and farming. He also worked with ASC office for some years. He served on the church council of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where he was a longtime member and faithful attendee until shortly before he moved to the retirement home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Alvin, Reuben, Lawrence and Roy; one sister, Irene; and an infant son.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 66 years, Pearl Rosenberg, of the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood; his three children: Patricia, of Waterloo, Marlin and his wife, Connie, of St. Ansgar, and James and his wife, Rita, of Kensett; six grandchildren: Rachel Rosenberg of Mesa, Ariz., Joshua Rosenberg and Zachary Rosenberg of St. Ansgar, Lisa (Rosenberg) Buechele and her husband, Andy, of Grafton, Stephanie (Rosenberg) Beland and her husband, Jeff, of Northwood, and Travis Rosenberg and his wife, Lindsay, of St. Ansgar; four great-grandchildren: Hayley, Dylan, and Briar Buechele and Jadyn Beland; a sister, Alene Halverson, and her husband, Elton, of Lyle, Minn., as well as other relatives and friends.
