Mabel H. Sawyer

OSAGE, IOWA — Mabel H. Sawyer, 89, of Osage, went to be with the Lord on Monday (March 7, 2005) at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Mabel was born Oct. 31, 1915, in rural Winnebago County to Carl and Inga (Thorson) Olson. She graduated from Commerce High School in Detroit, Mich.

Mabel married Harold R. Sawyer on Nov. 5, 1939, in Osage, Iowa. To this union two children were born. Harold passed away in 1977. Mabel was a longtime member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Osage.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Osage with the Rev. Rick Magstadt officiating. Private family burial will take place Friday morning at the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jerry R. (Marcia) Sawyer of Plano, Texas, and Sandy K. (Gary) Gilbert of Osage; four grandchildren, Michele (Len) Shultz, Mindy (Jimmy) Schreiber, Brian (Lynette) Gilbert and Steven (Jodi) Gilbert; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents; four brothers, Arthur, Clarence "Dick", Elmand "Ted," and Orville Olson; and one infant sister, Eda.
