LUELLA FERN SLAICHERT
ST. ANSGAR, IOWA — Luella Fern Slaichert, 86, of St. Ansgar, died Saturday (Nov. 27, 2004) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Byron Northwick officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery, St. Ansgar. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. today at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.
Luella was born on March 12, 1918, to Raymond and Pearl (Ivey) Fox in Miltonvale, Kansas. She moved with her family to Toeterville, Iowa, in the spring of 1926. Luella attended Toeterville Union No. 5 School and graduated from Mona School.
Luella married Joseph Slaichert on October 26, 1940, in Northwood. They farmed in the St. Ansgar area for several years before purchasing a farm south of St. Ansgar. Luella resided there until her illness, and in October she entered the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar.
Luella is survived by three children, Harlan Slaichert and wife, Sharon, of St. Ansgar, Karen Heldorfer and husband, Donald, of Bancroft, John Slaichert and wife, Debra, of Hampton; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Edgar Fox and wife, Evelyn, of St. Ansgar; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Fox of St. Ansgar and Evelyn Fox of Osage; and many nieces and nephews
Luella was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Blanche Griga; and two brothers, Harold Fox and Leonard Fox.
