EUGENE ELMER WRIGHT
OSAGE, IOWA — Eugene Elmer Wright, 73, of Osage, died Thursday (Oct. 28, 2004) at his home.
Eugene was born Nov. 22, 1930, at the Nissen Hospital in Osage, the son of Elmer and Nora (Wheeler) Wright.
He was educated in Osage Schools, graduating from Osage High School in May 1949.
He enlisted in the United States Navy on July 18, 1949, serving in the South Pacific. He was in the Naval Reserves for seven years.
Eugene was united in marriage to Mayzee Ring on Dec. 14, 1952, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville. He started doing plumbing and heating for Harry Johnson in 1953, after which he was employed by others in this same area of work.
Eugene started Wright Plumbing and Heating in July 1977, working a total of 45 years in the plumbing and heating business.
He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Osage American Legion, Osage V.F.W., and Osage Masonic Lodge 102 A.F. & A.M.
Eugene enjoyed sports, especially football, wrestling and fishing. He had a cottage at Clear Lake for 15 years, where he spent many happy days on the lake.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery with military honors at the Grave by the Osage American Legion Post No. 278 and Osage V.F.W. Post No. 7920.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, and will continue one hour before services on Monday at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Mayzee Wright of Osage; three sons: Dean Wright and wife, Julie, of Clear Lake, and children Nicholas and Diana; Douglas Wright and wife, Jean, of Osage, and children Jonathan, Stephanie and Emily; and David Wright and wife, Cornelia, of Clear Lake, and son Justin; three sisters; Marian (Roger) Anderson of Dickeyville, Wis.; Jeanette (Herbert) Heimer of Minneapolis, Minn.; and Norma Jean (Bernard) Hoff of Belmond; sisters-in-law, Lois Dinger of Riceville, and Marlene (Glen) Dillon of Cresco; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Nora Wright; a granddaughter, Chelsey Marie Wright.
