RICEVILLE, IOWA — Beatrice R. Worple McGovern, 90, of Riceville, died Saturday (Sept. 25, 2004) at the Denver Sunset Home in Denver, Iowa, of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Conway Funeral Home with burial in Riverside Cemetery, both in Riceville. Friends may call at the Conway Funeral Home from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services on Monday. Memorials may be given to Denver Sunset Home.

Beatrice was born on Feb. 8, 1914, at Riceville to F. Leo and Mable (Phippon) Murphy. On Dec. 12, 1931, she was united in mariage to Daniel Worple at Riceville. They farmed following their marriage. They ran the Riceville Dry Cleaners from 1962 until his death on Nov. 23, 1969. She then worked as a cook at Petit’s Cafe until she married Joseph McGovern on Feb. 3, 1973. He died on July 29, 1995.

Beatrice is survived by two children, Delmer Worple of Washburn and Donna Mae (Lester) Torsrud of Evansdale; six step-sons, Michael (Betty) McGovern of Bentonville, Ark., Arthur (Barbara) McGovern of Waterloo, Jon McGovern of Evansville, Terry (Janet) McGovern of Riceville, Father Mark Mc-Govern of Dyersville, and James (Kathleen) McGovern of St. Paul, Minn.; six step-daughters, Ruth McHyster of Boulder, Colo., Merry (Dick) Whittaker of New German, Minn., Joan (Dick) Britton of Portland, Ore., Kathleen (Dick) Luchwitz of Redington, Fla., Jane McGovern of Minneapolis, Minn., and Colleen (Frank Forney) McGovern of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 42 step-grandchildren and 44 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and several step-great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Katheen Goodbrand of Riceville; a sister-in-law, Louise Murphy of Riceville, and several nieces and nephews.

Beatrice was preceeded in death by her parents; two husbands; a sister, Vivian Purtell, and two brothers, Lawrence and Joseph Murphy.
