BEVERLY ALLISON
DULUTH, Minn. — Beverly Allison, 82, of Duluth passed away unexpectedly Sunday (Aug. 22, 2004) at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Minn.
She was born Beverly June Billings on June 1, 1922, in Chickasaw County, Iowa, and graduated from Osage High School in 1940.
On May 31, 1942, she married Gordon Allison. After Gordon returned from service in World War II, they lived in Waterloo, Osage and, finally Mason City, where Gordon worked for State Farm Inurance, and Beverly was his secretary. She was also a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, was active in PTA, the YWCA, and was a leader in women’s organizations at church.
In 1970, they retired to Mesa, Ariz., and Beverly was a teacher’s aide with the Mesa School system for several years.
She also was a leader of water aerobics, chair aerobics, did many crafts, and she and Gordon enjoyed traveling, singing in church choir, playing bridge and ballroom dancing.
Following Gordon’s death in 2001, she moved to Duluth, Minn. She was a resident of Edgewood Vista Assisted Living and a member of French River Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gordon.
She is survived by her daughters, Debrah (Robert) Adams of Duluth, Minn., and Dauri (Robert) Furgerson of Mesa, Ariz.; grandchildren, Jason (Tina) Gislason of Oklahoma, Kristin (Derrick) Burbul of Boone, Jennifer (Chris) Buckley of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Savanna, Katie, Saige, Olivia, and Solana; sisters, Evelyn (Lawrence) Dieterich of St. Ansgar, and Betty (Birney) Gast of Osage; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Edgewood Vista Assisted Living, Hermantown, Minn., with Pastor Gregory Garmer officiating. Inurnment will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Osage Cemetery in Osage, Iowa, with a reception following graveside service at noon in Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Osage all are welcome.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Edgewood Vista Assisted Living and St. Mary’s Medical Cemtery for their kind, compassionate care.
