CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Lyle Boyer, 90, of Charles City, died Tuesday (June 8, 2004) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
Funeral service for Lyle Boyer will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St. in Charles City, with Sr. Jennifer Rausch, pastoral associate of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in St. Peter’s Cemetery in New Haven. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
Lyle Raymond Boyer was born Oct. 10, 1913, in Floyd County, the son of Samuel and Mildred (Rice) Boyer. He attended Floyd County country schools.
On Jan. 29, 1935, he was united in marriage to Arlene Hoisington at Charles City.
Lyle was a farmer, mechanic, and worked for many years with Floyd County Conservation, retiring in 1976.
He was a member of the National Rifleman’s Association.
Lyle’s hobbies included hunting, trapping, fishing and spending time with his cats.
He will also be remembered for his arrowhead collection.
Living family members include three children, Cheryl (Donald) Meek, Bonnie Johanns, and Raymond (Barb) Boyer all of Charles City; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a sister-in-law, Pearl Boyer, of Charles City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arlene on Feb. 15, 2001; a granddaughter, Jackie Johanns; a son-in-law, Leonard Johanns; and a brother, Dale Boyer.
