OSAGE, IOWA — Maurice Flint Muller, 86, of Osage, died Sunday, September 28, 2003, at his home.

Maurice was born June 4, 1917, in Cedar Township near Osage. He was the second son of Albert Herman and Mable (Flint) Muller. He attended rural school and Osage High School.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church and was later confirmed and baptized at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage.

Maurice farmed with his father until his marriage to Adelaide Lindley in 1939 at the First Lutheran Church in Northwood. They farmed in the early years of their marriage. He then worked as an implement salesman for Ben Chatman and Wright John Deere for 10 years. He then returned to farming in 1953 on the home farm west of Osage.

They moved to the St. Ansgar area in 1965 after a tornado took their farm outside of Osage. They lived south of Toeterville until their retirement. In 1988, they moved to their present home in Osage.

Maurice was a charter member and officer of the 4-H Foundation and was a 4-H leader. He was active in Farm Bureau, served in several offices in the church council and building committees. He was also on the Cedar Valley Electric Cooperative Board of Directors for 19 years and was a director of Dairyland Power of LaCrosse for 10 years. During Maurice’s retirement he enjoyed woodworking, working in his vegetable garden, playing pool with several friends, and visiting with friends and family. Family members and friends have many beautiful wood pieces of his making.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends as he was always there for them, to listen to, to comfort, to love.

Funeral services will be held at p.m. Wednesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, and will continue one hour before services at the church.

He is survived by his wife, Adelaide, of Osage; two sons, Larry Muller and his wife Nancy, of Osage, and Lance Muller of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Lorraine Elliott and her husband, Larry, of Cedar Falls, and Lynne Beyer of Northwood; grandchildren, Lynn Scott and her husband, Mark, of Lawler, Mike Muller and his wife, Denee, of Waverly, Larry Muller Jr. and his wife, Rhonda, of Osage, Mark Nelson, of California, Jason Elliott and his wife, Lucia, of Cedar Falls, Tonya Sparrow and her husband Jason, of Decorah, and Travis Beyer of Mason City; great-grandchildren, Stephen, Shanda and Stacia Scott of Lawler, Kalie and Melanie Muller of Waverly, Bruce and Sydney Elliott of Cedar Falls, and Madison, Maxwell and Benton Sparrow of Decorah, Sophie and Owen Muller of Osage; brother-in-law, Orlando Lindley and his wife, DeLoris, of Nora Springs; five nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Elmer and wife, Julia Muller; granddaughter, Melissa Lynne Elliott; and nephew, Robert Muller.
