BELVA M. HANSON

CARPENTER, IOWA - Belva M. Hanson, 95, of rural Carpenter, died on Monday (Feb. 10, 2003) at the Hampton Health Care Center in Hampton, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church in Carpenter, with Irmgard Ellingson officiating. Burial will be at the Deer Creek Cemetery in Carpenter.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in Northwood.

Belva was born on Dec. 17, 1907, in Mt. Carroll, Ill. to Seth F. and Margaret (Rawlins) Kenyon. She graduated from Leland High School in 1926 and then from nurses training at Park Hospital in Mason City.

She married Myron Hanson on June 24, 1936, at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church in Carpenter. Belva was an active homemaker and farm wife after her marriage. She returning to nursing in 1965 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

She enjoyed two trips to Europe which included Scandinavia, Germany and England. Belva loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed quilting, baking cookies and cakes, gardening and flowers and cooking.

Belva was very active in church activities including friendship club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and six brothers.

Belva is survived by two sons, Lowell Hanson, of Cottage Grove, Minn., and Lyle Hanson, of Tacoma, Wash.; two daughters, Myra Peterson, of Austin, Minn. and Evelyn Cross, of Hampton; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Rodney Kenyon, of Dexter, Minn.
