THE ORDER FOR CHRISTIAN BURIAL FOR AXEL (SKIP) HANSEN, JR

First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, Iowa
2:00 p.m. October 30, 1996

Axel (Skip) Hansen, Jr, was born June 10, 1933 in Newberg Township, Mitchell County, Iowa to Axel Christian Hansen and Mary (Mostek) Hansen. On May 27, 1943 he was baptized into the Christian faith. His sponsors were Mrs. Josephine Wirth and Thorvald Hansen. He confirmed his faith on June 1, 1947 at First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, Iowa

Skip received his education through the eleventh grade at St. Ansgar High School. In the footsteps of his father, Skip spent the majority of his life as a farmer in the St. Ansgar area. He raised beef cattle and feeder pigs and in later years, he dabbled in raising ring-neck pheasants and other game birds.

Skip was united in marriage to Kathleen (Kay) Margaret Quinn on December 1, 1956 at Immaculate Conception Church in Riceville, Iowa. God blessed this marriage with three children. Skip spent several years making daily trips to the Good Samaritan Center to visit his wife Kay who suffered with Multiple Sclerosis.

Skip was known across the five-state area and was a fixture in St. Ansgar. His favorite pastimes were travel, fishing, cooking and teasing children and friends. In the tradition of his father, he was a wheeler=dealer and like to be around people. He will be missed for his booming voice and unique parking techniques.

Skip died on Saturday, October 26, at the age of 61 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and his wife, Kay.

He is survived by his three children, Gary; Jeff and daughter-in-law, Sue Hansen; daughter, Laurie; his brother, Chuck and sister-in-law, Judy Hansen; sister. Judy Wilson of Laguna Beach, California; four grandchildren, Gregory, Kirk, Nicole and Taylor; niece and nephew, Christine and Voun Hansen, half-daughter, Lisa, and many other relatives and friends.

Burial at the St. Ansgar Cemetery with Pastor Robert P. Porisch officiating.
