Frederick Herman Dieterichs, 93, life-long Mitchell county resident, died at the John Morische home six miles south of Osage on January 27, 1954. He had been an invalid for 32 years. Funeral services for him were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on January 29 at the Champion Funeral Home and at 2:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran church by the Rev. A.R. Allmann. Interment was in the cemetery near the church. [Calvary cem.]
Mr. Dieterichs was born December 10, 1860, the son of Herman [Gottfried Hermann] and Christine [Anna Kneisel] Dieterichs, in Mitchell county, Iowa. He was baptized on January 31, 1861 by Pastor Altmeier and confirmed on April 4, 1873.
He and Anna Hartwig were married May 3, 1888. They were the parents of three sons, Herman, George, and Alvin, and seven daughters, four of whom, Mrs. John Morische, Mrs. H.C. Troge, Mrs. Ralph Brandau and Adele Dieterichs, survive.
Three daughters died in infancy. Mrs. Dieterichs died February 7, 1920. Shortly before his marriage, Mr. Dieterichs purchased the farm on which he lived until he made his home with his daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. John Morische. He was a member of St. John's congregation from the day of its founding until his death.
Survivors in addition to three sons and four daughters include two brothers, William and Carl; a sister, Mrs. William Ahrens, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Three brothers preceded him in death.
