Funeral services for Alvin Ahrens, age 43, were held on Monday, January 3, at the home and at the Rock Creek Lutheran church wtih the Rev. S.O. Sorlein officiating. Mr. Ahrens died Friday at his home after a lingering illness of two years. Burial was made in the Osage cemetery.

Alvin Karl Ahrens was born on August 29, 1905 to William and Margaret (nee Dieterichs) Ahrens in Mitchell county, Iowa. He was baptized by the Rev. August Mueller of St. John's church September 24, 1905, and was confirmed in St. John's church March 20, 1921. He attended school at Mitchell.

He was married to Rosella Norby on August 29, 1930. They lived on a farm south of Mitchell until he bought the farm the family now lives on nine miles southwest of Osage.

Mr. Ahrens was a member of St. John's Lutheran church until he moved, when he transferred to Trinity Lutheran church in Osage, Iowa. After moving to the Rock Creek territory he transferred to that church. He was always an active church member. He was a member of the church council of Trinity Lutheran, a school board member at Mitchell and held offices in the Brotherhood at the Rock Creek Lutheran church.

During his illness he was up and around most of the time. He was confined to his bed a week before he died.

Surviving are his wife and four children, Elaine, Lois, Dorothy and Kenneth, all at home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Ahrens, Osage; four sisters, Cordelia and Marie of St. Louis, Missouri; Mrs. Roger (Lucille) Wilson of Dayton, Ohio; and Mrs. Darrell (Verna) Maxson of Spirit Lake; two brothers, William and Louis of Osage; six uncles: Henry Ahrens of Lewiston, Minnesota, Herman and Richard Ahrens and William Dieterich of Osage, Carl Dieterich of St. Ansgar, and Fred Dieterich of Rudd.

Preceding him in death were two children, Keith in 1939 and Marlys in 1942; one brother, Elmer, and infant twin sisters.
