Vera Lack, age 75, of Orchard, Mitchell county, Iowa, died on Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2008, at the First Congregational Church, U.C.C. in Orchard, with Pastor Jan Tjaden officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Vera was born January 11, 1933, at Colwell, Iowa, the daughter of George and Lulu (Rose) Venz. Vera graduated from Colwell High School. She was employed at and retired from the Mitchell County Hospital. She was a member of the Osage V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Vera embraced life fully, enjoying all types of outdoor activities, including farming, raising cattle, hunting, fishing, and trapping. She also enjoyed gardening.

Vera is survived by a son, Greg (Melissa "Boo") Weydert of Dayton, Ohio; a daughter, Katherine Todd of Roswell, Georgia; two granddaughters, Amber and Whitney Weydert; a sister, Daisy Wisher of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Lack on September 14, 2001; a son, Russell in 1966; and many brothers and sisters.
