Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, November 17, 1945 at Immanuel Lutheran church [in St. Ansgar, Iowa] for Leonard William Ruehlow, the Rev. Edgar Brammer of Cedar Falls in charge of the obsequies. Interment was made in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery at Toeterville, Iowa.

Leonard William Ruehlow was born on October 28, 1876 at Watertown, Wisconsin. Here he was also baptized in the Lutheran church. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church of Toeterville on March 22, 1891.

The deceased came to Union Township, Mitchell county, Iowa in 1878, and grew up in the Toeterville community, working on a farm until he was married to Miss Emilie Belz on October 15, 1899. The young couple then occupied farms six miles east of Lyle for five years and then five miles north of Toeterville for five years. After that they occupied their own farm until October 1936, when they retired to live in St. Ansgar. Though retired, Mr. Ruehlow was always busy with something.

Last Tuesday he had loaded some cobs to bring home when he suffered a heart attack which instantly caused his death at about four o'clock.

Mr. Ruehlow is survived by his widow, three sons, three daughters, six grandchildren, and by one brother and three sisters. He was preceded in death by one son in infancy and one daughter.

The deceased attained the age of 69 years and 15 days.

TOETERVILLE FARMER
DIES WHILE WORKING

Funeral services were held Friday, November 16, for Leonard Ruehlow, 69, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, who died suddenly while working on his farm near Toeterville.

Leonard Ruehlow was born October 28, 1876, at Watertown, Wisconsin. He came with his parents as a boy to a farm near Toeterville. He attended Spring Valley school and was confirmed at St. Peter's church at Toeterville.

October 5, 1899, he married Amelia Belz of Carpenter. The couple established their first home in Minnesota, later moving to Union township, Mitchell County, Iowa. Nine years ago they moved to St. Ansgar.

In addition to farming he was adjuster for the Farmer's Mutual Fire insurance company for many years.

Surviving are his widow of St. Ansgar; six children: Clarence and Agnes Ruehlow of Mason City, Lila Rustad and Lloyd Ruehlow of Lyle, Minnesota, Mrs. Robert Richmann of Osage and Donald Ruehlow at home; three sisters: Minnie Callies of Waterloo, Martha Belz and Hattie Borchardt, both of St. Ansgar; one brother, Paul, in California; and seven grandchildren.
