Aged St. Ansgar Woman Buried Saturday

Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Cecelia Erdmann, 81, of St. Ansgar were held Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She died last Tuesday evening of a heart attack.

Mrs. Erdmann was born in Mitchell County on March 22, 1869, the daughter of William and Rosine (Helm) Langrock. On March 8, 1892 she was married to Gustave Erdmann at Grafton, Iowa. They lived on a farm west of Mitchell until Mr. Erdmann’s death in 1927.

In 1928 Mrs. Erdmann moved to St. Ansgar, where she lived until her death. She had been in ill health all winter.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ervin Ehlke of Bertha, Minnesota, Mrs. George Dieterichs of Rudd, and Mrs. Lawrence Tesch of Mitchell; one sister, Mrs. Anna Roe of Toeterville; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, one son, three brothers, and three sisters preceded her in death.

Aged Woman
Dies at Home
in St. Ansgar

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Erdmann, 81, will be held Saturday at the home and at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery. She died of a heart ailment at St. Ansgar Tuesday night.

Mrs. Erdmann was born Mary Langrock on March 22, 1869, to William and Rosina (Helm) Langrock in Union township, northwest of Stacyville. She was married to Gustav Erdmann on March 8, 1892 at Grafton. They established their home west of Mitchell in Rock township on the home farm.

Mr. Erdman died in 1927 and Mrs. Erdmann moved to St. Ansgar where she since lived.

Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Erwin Ehlke, Bertha, Minn.; Mrs. George Dieterich, Rudd, and Mrs. Lawrence Tesch, Mitchell; a sister, Mrs. Anna Row, Toeterville, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Erdmann, age 82, were held at the home on Saturday afternoon and at Immanuel Lutheran church with Rev. H.C. Wolters officiating.

Mrs. Erdmann died suddenly of a heart attack at her home in the southwest part of town at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, [1951]. She had complained of not feeling well that day and had called her daughter, Mrs. George Dieterich of near Rudd, who was with her when she died.

Mrs. Mary Cecelia Erdmann, daughter of the late William and Rosine Helm Langrock, was born on March 22, 1869 in Union Township, Mitchell county, Iowa. She was baptized in infancy by pastor Jung and was confirmed by pastor Landgrebe in the Toeterville church.

On March 8, 1892 she was united in marriage with Gustave Erdmann of Grafton. They lived on a farm west of Mitchell, where her husband died in December 1927. She moved to St. Ansgar in 1928 and had made her home here ever since. There were four children born to this union. Their son, Erwin died in September of 1940. Three brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.

She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Erwin Ehlke of Bertha, Minnesota; Mrs. George Dieterichs of Rudd; Mrs. Lawrence Tesch of Mitchell; one sister, Mrs. Anna Roe of Toeterville; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pall bearers were: Emil Erdmann, Henry Wilde, Henry Pagel, Otto Steinberg, Philip Baldner and Reinhold Bublitz.

NOTE: Apparently the spelling of Erdmann was changing to Erdman about this time.

Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at St. Ansgar, Mitchell county, Iowa. Pallbearers were: Philip Baldner, Henry Wilde, Emil Erdman, Otto Steinberg, Henry Pagel and Rhinold Bublitz.
