Death: Oct. 13, 1994Funeral services for Geraldine Marie Zacharda, age 65, who died on October 13, 1994, were held on Saturday, October 15th at the United Methodist Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Gary Gonnerman officiating.
Gealdine Marie Zacharda was born February 2, 1929 in Mitchell Iowa, the daughter of Maynard and Mary (Curin) England. She was baptized at the Catholic Church in Osage and attended school in Mitchell, graduating from high school there in 1947. She was employed at Weavels Department Store, Chicago, Illinois.
Geraldine married Edward Charles Zacharda May 22, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She lived in St. Ansgar with her husband since 1951. She joined the United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible class for several years.
She had been a resident of the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center for the past three years. Her favorite things were cooking, reading, church activities, being a grandmother, and playing cards.
She is survived by her husband, Edward, of St. Ansgar; and a son, Todd Zacharda of Houston, Texas; her mother, Mary Leraaen of Rockford, Illinois; a sister Barbara Boozell, Belvidere, Illinois; and by two grandchildren.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her father, one daughter, three children in infancy, and Carl Leraaen.
