LIEVROUW, BLONDELL

Death: Feb. 13, 1990

Oscar Lievrouw was born in Aarseele, Belgium on April 25, 1907, the son of Ivo and Rosedale Blondell Lievrouw. In 1919 he came to America, and is recorded on the Ellis Island Passenger List (1892-1924) to have arrived on August 21, 1919. Oscar was 13 years old when he arrived at Ellis Island.

Oscar was a long time Mitchell Iowa resident and worked for area farmers. He was an avid "rock hound" and Indian arrowhead hunter. Over the years he created a Museum in Mitchell that contained many fossils and native American tools.

Oscar was never married and had no known children. He had 3 sisters, Martha, Mary and Sally, and 3 brothers, Henry, Del and Morris. Oscar was a friend to all that lived in Mitchell and is remembered by all that grew up knowing Oscar.

Funeral Mass Services for Oscar Lievrouw were held at the Sacred Heart Church of Osage Iowa on February 15, 1990. The Rev. Leon Connally officiated,and burial was at the Hill Side Cemetary in Sheffeild Iowa near his father Ivo Lievrouw and his step mother Laura Lievrouw.
