Philip H. Larson, age 92, of Osage, died Sunday October 12, 2008, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 17, 2008, at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Avenue, Osage, with the Rev. R. Dawson Tornes officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m., Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage. Visitation will continue one hour before services at the church.

He was born September 2, 1916, in Osage, the son of Peter Bastian and Helen (Johnson) Larson. Philip attended Dudley Elementary School and Osage High School, graduating in 1933. He farmed in Mitchell County. On September 2, 1942, Philip was sworn into the U. S. Navy on the steps of the Mitchell County Court House. He served in the Pacific until his discharge in 1945.

On September 12, 1947, Philip and Marilyn Yvonne Lack were united in marriage at the United Church of Christ in Orchard. Philip enrolled in Iowa State University in 1950 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1952. He worked for Farmers National, living in Nora Springs, Rock Rapids, Forest City and Fort Dodge. In 1960, Philip purchased the Town and Country Insurance Agency in Webster City, where Philip and Marilyn resided until 1968. They lived in Ames from 1968 to 1971 and in Des Moines for one year. In 1972 they moved to Mission, Texas where Philip worked for the State of Texas. Since 2000, Philip and Marilyn have divided their time between Mission and Osage. Philip was a member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church and the American Legion. Memorials can be made to Rock Creek Lutheran Church.

Philip is survived by his wife, Marilyn Larson of Osage; his sons, Alan (Nancy) Larson of Reston, VA; Gene (Sandra) Larson of Ankeny; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Philip was preceded by his parents; brother, John Larson; and sister, Mary Hollatz.
