Darrell "Bibe" Beyer, age 73, of Osage, Mitchell county, Iowa, died on Thursday, August 7, 2008, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 11, 2008, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Dennis Hanson and Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial was at the Osage Cemetery.

Darrell Lee Beyer was born on August 18, 1934, in Rock Township, Mitchell County, the son of George and Elfrieda (Hackbart) Beyer. He received his education in Mitchell schools.

On November 23, 1956, he married Sharon Kay Klein at West Union, Iowa. He worked in California and Hawaii on major government projects, and later worked as a self-employed carpenter. Darrell was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He was a hobby farmer, raising deer, sheep, ducks, geese, peacocks, calves, swans, rabbits, buffalo, and goats. Darrell loved hunting and fishing, especially turtle fishing, and hosted many turtle feeds.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Sharon of Osage; by a daughter, Patricia (Terry) Skuster, of Osage; by a son, Scott (Sherrie) Beyer, of Osage; by grandchildren: Adam (Jessica) Carson, Caleb Beyer, Kristen Beyer and special friend, Brandon Huisman, Amanda (Darren) Powers, and Joshua Skuster; by great-grandchildren: Gavin and Kayli Carson, Keilee Powers, and Trystin Huisman; by brothers: Donald (Dorothy) Beyer of Mitchell, Dale Beyer of Charles City, Dennis (Judy) Beyer of Fredericksburg, Dean (Anola) Beyer of Mitchell, George (Kristi) Beyer of Mitchell; by sisters, Dolores Hucke of Ottertail, Minnesota, Dallas (Glen) Heinzerling of Osage; and by two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Beyer of New Hampton, and Diane Bruce of Palo Cedro, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by a brother, Delbert Beyer; by a sister, Dorothy Clayton; and by brothers-in-law: Robert Clayton, Charles Bruce, Verne Hucke, and Robert Klein.

Arrangements were by Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage (641)732-3706.
