Bill Koenigs, age 29, of Brownsdale, Minnesota, and formerly of Meyer, Iowa, died Monday, July 21, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota of injuries received from a motorcycle accident.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at the Sacred Heart Oratory in Meyer, with Father James Seitz, Father John Moser, Father Ruben Spinler, and Deacon Gary Kasel officiating. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meyer. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart Oratory in Meyer with a scripture wake service at 7:00 p.m.
Bill was born November 24, 1978, in Osage, the son of Ray and Kathy (Ryan) Koenigs. He attended Visitation School in Stacyville and graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1997, where he was Senior Class President. Bill married Mary Gossman on August 14, 2004, in Rose Creek, Minnesota. They lived near Brownsdale. He was employed at Hormel Foods in Austin. Bill had an avid interest in antique Oliver tractors and loved his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He enjoyed his family, and especially enjoyed his nieces and nephews.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Koenigs (and their soon to arrive baby), of Brownsdale, Minnesota; his parents, Ray and Kathy Koenigs of Stacyville; his parents-in-law, Roman and Mercedes Gossman of Rose Creek, Minnesota; brothers and sister, Brian (Joanne) Koenigs of Meyer and children, Jacob, Adam, Jack and Auna, Linda (Tim) Neutz of Royalton, Minnesota and children, Matthew, Grace and Isaac, (Rachel) Koenigs of Hastings, Minnesota and children, Lauren, Evan and Claire, Matt Koenigs of Meyer, Nick (Katie) Koenigs of Plymouth, Iowa and children Hannah and Ryan, Tom (Katie) Koenigs of Lyle, Minnesota and daughter, Emma, and his twin brother, Chuck Koenigs of Meyer; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry (Sarah) Gossman of Rose Creek, Minnesota and children, Melody, Jake and Dean, Lynn (Tim) Schaefer of Rose Creek, Minnesota, and children, Courtney and Garett, and Joe Gossman and friend, Emily, of Dexter, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Henry and Barbara Koenigs; and his maternal grandparents, Mike and Ann Ryan.
