LACROSSE, WISCONSIN--Maurine Baldner, age 94, of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and formerly of St. Ansgar, Iowa, died on March 6, 2008 at Hillview Nursing Home in LaCrosse. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville, with Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Toeterville.

Nelsine Maurine Nelson was born July 31, 1913 to Nels and Christine (Richsmann) Nelson in Mitchell County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Congregational Church in Osage. She graduated from Osage High School in 1932 and received training in the Normal School for two years.

She married Arthur L. Baldner on May 1, 1938 in Osage. In 1941 they purchased their farm northeast of Toeterville and lived there until 1973 when they retired and moved to St. Ansgar, Iowa. After moving to town Maurine served as a Mitchell County homemaker for five years. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Toeterville, Iowa and served as president of Ladies Aid and held several offices in her circle. Maurine was a 4-H leader for several years, served on the Mitchell County Extension and was involved in the Mitchell County Cancer Society. In 2000 they moved to LaCrosse.

Maurine and Art spent 17 winters in Mesa, Ariz. where they went on lots of sightseeing trips and enjoyed the warm weather and making new friends. She loved traveling to visit and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Audrey (Ron) Clausen of Rochester Minn., Carol (Jack) Jones of Gilbert, Ariz., and a son Gerald (Betty) Baldner of LaCrescent Minn.; nine grandchildren, Becky Stewart of Gilbert, Ariz., Kristie (Eldon) Anderson of Stewartville, Minn., Bonnie (Tim Jewell of Queen Creek Ariz., Bruce ( Colleen) Clausen of Apple Valley, Minn., Brad (Sheila) Nagle, Mesa, Ariz., Tami (Jeff) Nabor), Salt Lake City, Utah, Jody (Craig) Lyon, LaCrosse, Wisc., Leslie Baldner, Elk Grove, Calif., Jason (Lynzi) Baldner, Onalaska, Wisc.; 16 great-grandchildren, one great- great-grandson, sister-in-law, Iva Nelson; nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; brother Nels Nelson; and son-in-law Andy Payant.
