Eleanor Boerjan was born July 21, 1917, the daughter of Reinhold and Martha (Dietrich) Bublitz. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith.
Eleanor was united in marriage on November 19, 1936 to Henry Boerjan. The couple was blessed with five children.
Eleanor and Henry spent a lot of years farming and she was a devoted wife in helping him on the farm. When Henry retired, they decided to go to Arkansas to live for the winter. They came back in the summer to live in St. Ansgar and did a lot of traveling together in their mobile home with their son H. Allen and Virginia.
On May 21, 1986 Henry died, so Eleanor sold the home in Arkansas and came back to live in St. Ansgar.
Eleanor had a rug loom and made rag rugs. She made 1,372 for her family and friends. People would call her to make them some. She loved to bake bread and her Angel food cakes from scratch. She also knitted, crocheted, and made lots of quilts. She always kept busy doing the things she liked to do.
She went to the nursing home to help feed residents, and one day decided she wanted to be a CNA. (Certified Nursing Assistant) She completed a 75 hour course at the Good Samaritan Society in St. Ansgar at the age of 78. Before she did this she had 18 years of housekeeping there.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, parents Martha and Reinhold Bublitz, brothers Harvey, Wilmer, Arnold and Lawrence Bublitz.
We will cherish her memory of everything she has done in her life with us. This includes Henry Allen, Jr. and Virginia Boerjan of St. Ansgar, Iowa; Larry Eugene and Lola Boerjan of St. Ansgar, Iowa; Jerry Lee and Gaila Boerjan of Elma, Ark.; LaVonne Marie Severson of Mountainburg, Ark.; Yvonne Marie and Ivan Woods of St. Ansgar, Iowa.
