Memorial services for Harold Dean "Hal" Warrington, 76, of Osage, Iowa, were held on Monday, August 13, 2007, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage.

There was a flag presentation by Osage American Legion Post 278. Inurnment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at a later date.

Hal died on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage after a brief illness.

Hal was born in Osage, Iowa, on December 26, 1930, the son of Harvey and Lillie (Gunderson) Warrington. He attended schools in Osage, and rural Mitchell County, graduating from Osage High School in 1948. Hal attended Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, and received an A.A. degree from Phoenix College, Phoenix, Arizona.

He enlisted in the Navy and reached the rank of 1st Class Petty Officer, Link trainer instrument flight instructor. Following the Korean Conflict, he farmed near Nora Springs, Iowa, for nine years. Hal continued his career as a computer programmer, working for General Electric and then Honeywell. His work, automating electric power plants, steel mills and oil refineries, took him to South Africa and to Belgium, as well as throughout the continental United States. Hal's work with computers began at the computer's infancy of room-sized monsters and continued into the modern age of PC's.

Hal married his college sweetheart, Bonnie Annette Braa, in 1952. They had one son, David, who passed away in Riverton, Wyoming. David's wife, Darlene, resides in Riverton. Hal enjoyed building and designing, having built houses in Flagstaff, Arizona, and Florence, Oregon. He liked to build furniture and putter in his work shop. He also enjoyed fishing in the wooden boat that he built. Hal attended the Lutheran Church wherever he lived, and served on boards, ushered and sang in the choirs. He especially enjoyed the fellowship of the men's groups.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son David Warrington; a sister Lucile Gunsallus; and his stepmother, Hope Warrington.

Hal is survived by his wife, Bonnie Warrington of Osage; a brother-in-law Bob Gunsallus of Osage; and a daughter-in-law Darlene Warrington.
