John Adams is Taken by Death; Burial in Iowa.
John Adams, a widower living with his daughter, Mrs. Harvey Miller, at 904 Jones street, died this morning at 7 o'clock after a lingering illness. He had been ill about eight months. He was born in Johnsburg, Ill., on September 24, 1865. He lived in Stacyville, Ia., going there with his parents when he was nine years old. He lived there until seven years ago when he came here to live with his daughter.
He married Anna Mary Thome in 1887. She died 19 years ago. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Miller, Watertown, and Mathilda and Frances of Woodward, Ia. Also surviving are four brothers, Joseph and Martin Adams of Austin, Minn.; and Matt and Peter Adams, Stacyville, Ia., and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Theobold and Mrs. Susan Fass also of Stacyville, survive. There are 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Ten children preceded him in death.
Since coming to Watertown Mr. Adams had been attending St. Henry's Catholic church. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
The funeral will be held in Stacyville where services will be held on Saturday morning at St. Mary's Catholic church. The body is at the Schmutzler funeral home and friends may call there to pay their respects Thursday afternoon and evening up to 8 o'clock when the body will be taken to Stacyville.
The Miller family will leave tomorrow morning for Stacyville to make funeral arrangements for Saturday.
