Ruth Anna (Williams) Hackbarth, 91 of St. Ansgar, Iowa, died Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar with Rev. Dr. Byron Northwick officiating. Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar.

Ruth was born August 7, 1915 at Little Cedar, Iowa, the daughter of Jennie and Anton Williams. She was baptized September 18, 1915 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage, and confirmed on February 19, 1939 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Ruth attended the Little Cedar School until the eighth grade when her family moved to St. Ansgar. After graduation from high school she worked as a telephone operator.

She married Harland (Pete) Hackbarth on October 26, 1940 at Kirksville, Missouri. They lived in Los Angeles, CA until 1946 when they moved back to St. Ansgar. She again was a telephone operator until becoming a bookkeeper for the St. Ansgar State Bank from which she retired.

She was active in the Immanuel Lutheran Church being Sunday school secretary and treasurer almost 50 years. She enjoyed her family, especially her great-granchildren, and enjoyed working in her flower garden. Ruth and Peter were known for remembering shut-ins and friends with cards, visits and gifts of "goodies".

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers: Clifford (infant), Paul, and Henry; sisters: Ala Milton, Irene Bublitz; stepbrothers: Morris and Arthur Williams; stepsister Laura Klemesrud.

Ruth is survived by her husband Harland (Pete) and children: Jannelle Francis; Camille Jeffers (Richard); grandchildren, Jennifer Kisley (John); Jeffrey Francis (Shawna); Michelle McDermott (Andy); and Brian Jeffers; great-grandchildren, Andrea, Morgan, Steven, Jaden, Jessica, Jordan, and Joshua; many nieces and nephews.

Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, is in charge of arrangements.
