Rochester, Minnesota -- The funeral for Melba L. Zerck will be 11 a.m. Monday at Bethel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Linda Helberg officiating. Burial will be in City Cemetery in St. Ansgar, Iowa.
Miss Zerck, 77, of 917 Second Ave. N.W., a retired nurse, died Thursday (Oct. 9, 1997) at Saint Marys Hospital.
Born March 18, 1920, in Lyle, she was a graduate of Lyle public schools and graduated from the Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester in 1942. From 1942 to 1949 she was a registered nurse at Worrell Hospital in Rochester and then worked at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Huntington Beach, Calif. After returning to Rochester in 1957, she was employed at Rochester Methodist Hospital and became head nurse in the first intensive care unit in Rochester. She retired April 18, 1986.
Miss Zerck was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, the Life and Growth Committee at the church, and Methodist-Kahler Alumni Association. She was a Pink Lady at Rochester Methodist Hospital.
Survivors include a brother, Wallace Zerck of Rochester. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ranfranz Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Anny or Bethel Lutheran Church.
