AUSTIN, MINNESOTA -- Violet Marie Heard, 76, of 1016 11th Ave. S.W., died Friday (Nov. 10, 1995) at St. Marks Lutheran Home in Austin.

The former Violet Austin was born Aug. 20, 1919, in Kansas. On Sept. 27, 1936, she married Clifford Heard in St. Ansgar, Iowa. Mrs. Heard lived most of her life in the Austin area and worked as a dietary aide at Burr Oak Manor in Austin for 25 years. She was a member of Deer Creek Lutheran Church in Carpenter, Iowa. Mr. Heard died Oct. 29, 1964.

She is survived by a son, Wayne of Mascoutah, Ill.; a daughter, Darla (Mrs. Lester) Tufte of Lyle; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Earl Orman of Northwood, Iowa. She was preceded in death by a son, two grandsons, three sisters and five brothers.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Crane Community Chapel in Austin, with the Rev. Joe Matt officiating. Burial will be in Woodbury Cemetery in Lyle.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
